The Company - Our Client:
Our client is a well known pet insurance company who provides sales, administration and claims management services for a range of pet insurance policies, providing peace of mind for owners and the best possible care and protection for their pet.
The Role - Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prompt investigation of system faults, providing software and/or data fixes as appropriate
- Design, development, testing and implementation of new software and updates
- Liaison with external suppliers to ensure software development, updates and/or data is delivered on time and to specification, resolving issues where necessary
- Keep up to date with system related technical innovations
- System changes and enhancements to be fully documented and documentation produced to department standards
- Weekly status updates detailing progress against plan and any issues
- New programs and changes to be written in a style that is easy for the user to operate and for the IT team to maintain
- Good feedback from the end users and from the rest of the IT team
- Carry out additional duties requested by a member of the management team, as the requirements of the business demand
The Person - Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:
- 3 to 4 years in the IT industry
- Good commercial awareness and understanding of customer service principles
- An understanding or awareness of insurance principles; any knowledge of pet insurance would be an advantage
- Understanding of Visual C# or C++.Net (WinForms not WebForms), SQL Server 2000-2008 and Windows 2000/XP/7 would also be an advantage, as would knowledge of SQL Reporting Services
- A willingness to learn new skills (technical / business related) and apply those new skills to the job
- Good communicator
As part of our interview process we will have a written test. This will cover logical thinking and, if the candidate has the relevant technical skills (i.e. .NET or SQL), we will also test that too.
The Package – What You Could Earn:
- Basic salary up to £35,000 per annum
