We are already a few days into the
New Year, and how much did you huff and puff when your alarm went off? The
break did you well, and now you’re back at work, you’re feeling dull again. It's
obvious but lots of people wish to move jobs in the New Year. It's part of the
general ‘New Year, New Me’ message which slips into almost everyone’s heads,
however, resolutions are just thoughts until you make them happen.
You need to think about why you
want a new job. Is it because you haven’t progressed professionally? Or maybe
it’s because you are missing out on spending quality time for yourself. With
all the reasons to why you want a new job, you may want to consider these
Most companies that are hiring in
the New Year want someone to start as soon as possible so it is a good time to
start job searching. It might be the case that you feel unsatisfied with your
current job because you’ve outgrown it, but frustratingly, you don’t quite have
the skills for the job you want.
Try not to dive in straightaway and
apply when you don’t necessarily have the skills required. Instead, put a plan
of action in place to develop the essential skills – and keep researching job
opportunities too, so you can continue to tweak your application in the
meantime. Don’t be set on one job; jobs come and go and you never know what
might be around the corner.
Talking about your New Year goals
with friends and acquaintances is a good way of finding out about jobs ahead of
the job market. As well as potentially helping someone with a referral bonus!
Start speaking to a recruiter (like
us!) as they will have experience and advice to share. Send us your CV today to
get in touch.
Finding a job or even getting an
interview might not be as straightforward as you’d like it to be. It can take
time for a job to fall into place but there are recruiters who can help move
forward the process. They can offer help from adapting CV’s to interview tips
ready for that New Year job. So, with that in mind, patience is key and keep your
energy going with your search. Now, this does not mean going into work and
slacking off until you leave. Never leave a bad impression anywhere. It is a
small world after all and not only do you want those good references, but your
next boss could be best friends with your old boss!
It shouldn’t take a New Years’
resolution for an increase in motivation to act upon something you’ve always
wanted to do. Keep a positive mind set throughout the year, remember, you can’t
start the next chapter of your life if you keep re-reading the last one!
Cheers to a new year and for you to
take a step closer to achieving that perfect opportunity.
"Working with Company Fusion is always care free and seamless. The communication is always positive, upbeat and professional and has been very informative and prompt in helping both employer and candidate through the recruitment process. For me personally I don’t like being ‘hassled’ by recruiters and when I do speak on the phone I like it to be precise communication so as not to take up too much time. Company Fusion get this just right with accurate and informative communication only when needed. This is more engaging for me as a Nursery Operator and employer because it shows a level of appreciation of the pressure of my role and very busy schedule. She also seems to have a good understanding of our expectations of what constitutes an ‘Outstanding’ candidate. All in all a very positive experience!"
